The
tenth annual Walk of Honor, will be held on Sunday, October
15, 2017 at 12:00PM to pay tribute
to our country's veterans - both past and present. It will be
held at the Danbury War Memorial on Memorial Drive in Danbury. The one-mile walk
for those who wish to participate will
take place after the ceremony and will loop around
South Street, Coalpit Hill Road, Lions
Way and Memorial Drive. Click here

For
the sixth straight year, we will
honor a local veteran with the Walk of Honor
Warrior Award. We are asking
Danbury residents and the
surrounding areas to nominate a
veteran, who has served in a combat
zone and who also exemplifies the
values of courage, integrity, devotion
to duty, loyalty, respect, selfless
service and honor.
The nominations should be no longer
than five hundred words and should
include the nominee’s name and
military rank along with the name and
contact information of the person
submitting the nomination. All nominations must be
emailed to mteicholz@yahoo.com
and received by Sunday, September 17,
2017 for consideration.
“I
know we have many heroes walking among
us every day and we don’t even
realize who they are.
I think it’s important to
take the time to say thank you.
We may not know all of your
names, but we know what you have given
of yourselves and this is a small
token of our gratitude,” said
Mary Teicholz, founder and organizer of the event.
Mayor Mark Boughton said, "It is an honor to have the Walk of Honor
event in our community again this year.
Too often we forget the sacrifices that so many have made for our rights and freedom and this event gives us the rare opportunity to come together to thank them."
