Mary Teicholz is the author of “BE POSITIVE TO A PLUS” 
“My Trek Through MDS, AML, and Bone Marrow Transplant”

Mary is a Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) related Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) survivor. Diagnosed in 2006, Mary underwent a bone marrow/stem cell transplant on March 1st, 2007. Simultaneously and through sheer determination, she continued her advocacy and volunteer work for her community during her treatment.

Mary served as a Councilwoman for the City of Danbury for ten years from 2003 to 2013. She has held board positions for Community Health Charities and the Housing Authority of the City of Danbury. Mary has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Connecticut State University in Justice and Law Administration.

She also is:
-Danbury Elks Lodge No. 120 Citizen of the Year Award recipient in 2008.
-Founder and Organizer for the annual “Walk of Honor” in Danbury, Connecticut.
-Planning member of the “Veterans Walkway” at the Danbury War Memorial.
-Organizer of multiple bone marrow drives.
-"Honored Hero" for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2011.
-Michael Garil Courage Award recipient for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in 2012.
-Speaker on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for bone marrow donations and rare diseases.
